Kakinada, Mar 29th: Film makers and the owners of cinema theaters are expressing concern over the piracy of DVD's and CD's. Theater authorities are also worried about the poor quality of films and maintenance of safety measures. Cinema exhibitors say that their business was also affected due to many factors including the televisions channels due to which many are forced to close the theaters. A few years ago nearly 200 theaters were there in the district and at present the number has come down to 137.
The district fire and safety officer, Mr. G. Yoseph said that 86 per cent of the theaters are not maintaining the safety norms. Piracy of DVD's and CDs are soaring now-a-days due to which most films are not running more than 20 to 30 days. East Godavari Cinema Exhibitors Association President, Mr. Narsimha Raju told that the drought had hit nearly 60 to 70 per cent of film business in the district.
