New Delhi, Sep 14th: The Union human resource development minister, Mr. Kapil Sibal, on Monday stated that the government was planning to introduce an all-India entrance test for admission to the science stream in universities in the next three years for students who pass out of Class XII in the next three years. Speaking to the media, Mr. Sibal said that he preferred having an all India exam system for admission into universities. He also said that he was aiming to put this into effect in three years time for science stream.
He pointed out that the Central Advisory Board of Education (CABE), the apex advisory board on education has already given its approval. Through the system, the HRD ministry hopes to reduce inconvenience to students who appear for separate entrance examinations conducted by different agencies for admission into different universities. Mr. Sibal also called for a uniform National Curriculum Framework. “We are going to set up an academic authority for preparing the NCF”, he said.
