District Collector, Mr. M. Ravi Chandra called up the bankers to come forward to provide loans to the tenant farmers and members of women self-help groups. According to this, he conducted a meeting with bankers here on Tuesday. He said that the bankers must keep in mind that 70 percent of the population of the district was seeking out a livelihood from agriculture and tenant farmers formed a major part of it. Reviewing the functioning of the banks in the last six months here, Mr. Ravi Chandra said that the banks needed to provide loans to the tune of Rs. 100 crore per month to the women self-help groups in the next four months of the financial year to reach the target. Observing this there was a need to conduct special melas to distribute loans to farmers and members for women self-help groups. Mr. Ravi Chandra said that farmers needed financial support from the banks very badly, as they lost the standing crop to the recent cyclone and they suffered from some Microfinance Companies in recent times. Finally, he stressed that there is a compulsory need for conducting special melas to distribute the loans, which are being useful to many farmers and other groups. Additional Joint Collector, Mr. B. Rama Rao, Project Director of the District Rural Development Agency, Mr. K. Madhukar Babu, Lead Bank Manager, Mr. N. Jagannadha Raju and other officials are participated.
