CM presents silkvastras to Tirumala

Tirumala, Sep 21st: The Dwajarohanam, hoisting the flag and signaling the beginning of the nine day Brahmotsavam festival, was conducted at the temple of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala in the presence of Chief Minister K Rosaiah, and Ministers Gade Venkat Reddy and P Ram Chandra Reddy. The flag was hoisted by the chief priest A V Ramana Dikshitulu and his team of Vikhanasa sect of priest at the golden Dwajasthambham in the Ananda Nilayam during the Meena Lagnam when the clock struck 18:00 hours. Beating of traditional drums and chanting of Vedic hymns marked the event as the proceedings were telecasted by Sri Venkateswara Bhakti Channel.

Later in the night, lord Venkateswara and his consort are being taken out in a procession on the Pedda Sheshavahanam on the four made streets around the temple, marking the beginning of the nine day festival of parades of the deity for the benefit of lakh of devotees who visit the temple every day, especially for the event. The Chief Minister inaugurated the laddus counters near the temple and also released the New Year calendars of Padmavati and Venkateswara.

Mr Rosaiah, who brought the state honors of special silk clothes for offering to the Tirumala deity, in a procession, carried the clothes on his head from Bedi Anjaneyaswamy temple to the Sri vari temple, where he presented the same to the temple. The special clothes would adorn the deity on the fifth day of the Garudotsavam to be held on September 25.
