Hyderabad, Jan 22nd: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah asked District Collectors to facilitate setting up of Information Technology (IT) and IT-Enabled Services companies in all the headquarters. Holding a conference with them, the Chief Minister impressed upon them that IT/ITES units should not be restricted to Hyderabad and its outskirts or to tier II cities. Efforts should be made to promote such units in all district headquarters to create more job opportunities and step up export of software services.

Briefing news-persons on the deliberations, Revenue Minister D Prasada Rao said it was decided at the meeting to promote food processing industries in ten districts. The Government had identified Rangareddy, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Medak, Kurnool, Chittoor, Kadapa, Guntur, Prakasam, Srikakulam and Visakhapatnam districts with a huge potential for setting up of food processing units. Each district would be alloted Rs 25 crore each for creation of industrial infrastructure for the purpose, he added.

The Chief Minister decided to entrust the district administration with the power to issue No Objection Certificate (NOC) for grant of licenses for mining minor minerals, taking away the power hitherto entrusted with Gram Panchayats. A government order would be promulgated to give effect to this decision. He said to cut down on delays, power for granting licenses for starting new industries would be delegated from state level officers to District level Officers.
