Chief Minister, Mr. K.Rosaiah, while addressing a review meeting with officials and elected representatives here on Thursday announced that 20 Kgs of rice and 5 Liters of kerosene each would be distributed to all the 94,879 families that were affected by the rain. Stating that the Relief provided by the State Government would reach all the victims of rain that affected several districts, Chief Minister, Mr. K. Rosaiah on Thursday cautioned officials against possible misuse of the aid. Mr. Rosaiah, who undertook an aerial survey and visited a photo exhibition conducted by the District Administration on the destruction caused by rain, said that it was unfortunate that thousands of farmers lost their crop. He said that the Government was keen on helping the poor, for whom daily labour was the only source of income. When a few MLAs tried to assess the loss and sought an increase in the compensation, Mr. Rosaiah stated that distribution on the lines of ‘annasatram' was not at all possible. He also said that this is not the first of its kind calamity, as we have seen many such calamities. This is time to recollect the response from various other Government bodies to the disasters and the packages being announced by them he added. District Collector M. Ravi Chandra briefed Mr. Rosaiah about the loss. Union Minister of State for Defence Mr. M.M. Pallam Raju, Ministers Mr. Botcha Satyanarayana, Mr. Dharmana Prasada Rao, Social Welfare Minister Mr. Pilli Subhash Chandrabose, Mr. Pinipe Viswarup and others were present.
