Kakinada, Mar 24^th: East Godavari district collector, Mr. Gopala Krishna Dwevedi said that the crops under the Godavari Delta were saved with the effective measures taken by the authorities. A review meeting on the yield of Rabi crop was organized by him at zilla parishad meeting hall on Tuesday. Officials belonging to irrigation, agriculture and revenue departments attended the meeting.

Presiding over the meeting, collector ordered the officers for a joint survey on the yield of rabi crop in East Godavari district over the reports received about the shortage of water to 15 mandals in the district. He said that many conflicting reports were received about the shortage of water and asked to make a survey on the same and submit the reports by April 10.

As far as official reports are concerned water shortage for the second rabi crop was effectively managed by the agriculture and irrigation departments. Farmers were provided with additional facilities like oil engines and pump sets for mobilizing the water resources. The survey would likely to reveal the apprehension in this aspect.

Collector ordered the officials to pay the pending bills to the farmers as soon as possible. He said that irrigation canals will be closed for one month from May 1 to May 31 and asked the concerned municipal and panchayat officers to fill the water storage points to avoid water scarcity during summer. Joint director of agriculture, Mr. T. Nandaiah and the ZP CEO, Mr. B. Bhavani Prasad and other officers attended the meeting.
