Kakinada, Mar 25th: 18 persons were injured in a clash that took place between two groups at Bhairavapalem fisherman’s village in I. Polavaram Mandal of East Godavari district on Wednesday. Pelting of stones took place between the groups and severe injuries were caused to 18 people belonging to both the sections. Similar incident took place at Balusuthippa village on Tuesday.
According to the district SP Y. Nagi Reddy, the clash took place with the differences raised between the groups over the distribution of compensation given by reliance industries. One of the groups was led by Pemmadi Babu Rao and other by Pemmadi Kameswara Rao. The Reliance Company distributed cash incentives to fisher flock as a part of relief package for laying pipelines.
SP revealed that special police forces were arranged in both the villages to avoid any further disturbances. Security was also arranged at neighboring villages. Amalapuram DSP Mr. Lakshmi Narasayya was along with SP.
