Clash between two groups: 14 injured

Cheedikada, May 1st: Clash between two groups of people belonging to Telugu Desam and Congress resulted in injuries to 14 people. The incident took place at Chinna Konam village on Friday. Police took 11 people into custody and meanwhile the injured were shifted to Government Hospital for treatment.

 

According to the sources provided by the police, the clash took place over the construction of a temple by congress men in front of Ondru Gairamma’s house, who belongs to Telugu Desam. Gairamm’s sons who were active in the TD objected the Congress workers to dig the foundation.

 

A heated argument took place between the two groups and later both the groups clashed with swords, laithis and pelted stones against each other.  Nine of the TD supporters including Gairamma sustained head injuries and five of the Congress workers also sustained injuries. All the injured were shifted to hospital.

 

According to the villagers Chinna Konam was taken up as model village where the government has sanctioned funds for the construction of pucca houses to villagers. But the TD supporters objected saying no funds to do so. However the Congress workers began to demolishing the houses. Over the complaint given by TD supporters 11 congress men were arrested and send to remand.
