Clash between PRP and Congress men: One died

Amalapuram, April 19th: The clash between two groups belonging to PRP and Congress men resulted in death of one old woman, 28 injured and nearly 150 houses were damaged. The incident took place at Gudala Village in Allavaram Mandal of East Godavari District on Sunday.

 

According to the sources provided by the police a small incident between two groups of PRP and Congress that took place on Saturday night led to a greater disaster. PRP activists alleged that the congress men have beaten their activist who was holding the party flag on Saturday and was passing through the village where the congress men are canvassing their party candidate.

 

Both the groups complained against each other to the police. As a security measure the police posted pickets in the village. Again the issue flared up in the Sunday afternoon. As a result, 150 houses of PRp activists were damaged by the other group and in addition a large number of two wheelers and other vehicles were also damaged. An old woman died due to shock and 28 were injured.

 

District SP, Ms. Charu Sinha along with Inspector general of police, Mr. C.N Gopinath Reddy visited the village. Special pickets were posted to maintain peace and some people were taken into custody as a preventive measure. Ms. Sinha promised to take severe action on the persons responsible for the violence. The condition of injured was serious.
