Kakinada, Feb 15th: With municipal polls round the corner and zilla parishad elections slated to be conducted later, the Praja Rajyam leadership is engaged in wooing party cadre in view of large scale desertions in the last few months in both the Godavari districts. Political circles observe that the party which received migrations from TD in large numbers and other parties to some extent, could not stop desertions enmasse in the last few months with the same speed. It is known that the PR has its maximum strength on coastal districts of the state. This was proved in the elections conducted last year.

In order to get back support from cadre, especially in the two Godavari districts, the leadership is poised to take some decision. More emphasis will be laid on leaders who are neutral and who are inclined to join the Telugu Desam. The party founder president, Mr. K. Chiranjeevi, visited the district four times in the last one-and-half months and conducted review meetings with leaders. It is also said that Mr. Chiranjeevi has made phone calls to some leaders and asked them to participate in the activities of the party as was done before the elections.
