Hyderabad, Aug 20th: The Praja Rajyam party president, Mr. K. Chiranjeevi on Thursday ruled out the rumors coming out about the merger of PRP with Congress. While addressing a media conference he criticized a regional daily for deliberately carrying out a vicious campaign against his party for the last three months. He alleged that certain newspapers were trying to eliminate the PR as part of a strategy to bring back the Telugu Desam to power.

Mr. Chiranjeevi alleged that a section of the media was trying to blow the issue out of proportion when a few leaders left the party. He said that resignations are common in the political parties after the elections and the party has a lot of support from the public and it was proved in the general elections as 70 lakh voters supported the party. He asked the media not to bring such rumors and support the new emerging parties to strengthen democracy instead of allowing the Congress and TD to enjoy the power.
