Change in JNTU syllabus

Hyderabad, May 7th: Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University is likely to change its syllabus from the forthcoming academic year. This is to enhance the employability of its students in times of recession. Earlier there were number of jobs in IT sector but with recession, there is need for freshers with strong competence in core engineering subjects.

 

According to the JNTU, Hyderabad vice chancellor, Prof D.N. Reddy, the new syllabus would comprise 10 percent humanities, 40 percent core subjects, 15 percent science, 10 percent interdisciplinary topics and 25 percent elective subjects. This new syllabus structure will come into effect from next academic year.

 

Mr. Reddy revealed that the new syllabus had been designed as per the model issued by All India Council for Technical Education with stress on employability. He also said that the information was sent to all the JNTU affiliated colleges and the staff of the colleges will be trained according to the new syllabus.
