Challenged kids to get pensions

Kakinada, Nov 14th: The East Godavari administration will provide pensions and aides like tricycles to all the eligible disabled children in the district. The district collector, Mr. Gopala Krishna Dwevedi made this announcement on Saturday at the Children’s Day celebrations organized at the collector’s camp office. The collector hosted a breakfast for the students from various schools. Speaking on the occasion, the collector revealed that several measures were initiated for the welfare of these sections. These include cash deposits in the form of national saving bonds to the tune of Rs 3,000 each covering 500 children.

In addition to this, insurance coverage to the tune of Rs 1 lakh each is being provided to 7,000 mentally disabled children in the district. The Zilla Parishad chairman, Mr. Ch. Srinivasa Venugopalakrishna, the joint collector, Mr. Kona Sasidhar, the assistant director, disabled welfare, Mr. K. Jivan Babu and other officials participated. The children displayed their talents in fancy dress competitions. Prizes were distributed to the winners in the competitions conducted on the occasion.
