Hyderabad, Oct 20th: Two Central teams, consisting of eight members each, will visit Andhra Pradesh to assess the damage caused by the recent floods and also the drought-hit mandals in the State. Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, state Revenue Minister D Prasada Rao said an eight-member team, headed by Agricultural and Cooperative Department Joint Secretary Upma Choudhary, would visit the 981 drought-hit mandals from October 24 to 27 to assess the damage.
He said the officials from the Departments of Finance, Planning, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development, Rural Development, Women and Child welfare and Rural Water Supply would be members of the team. Another central team, headed by Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs Deepthi Villas, would visit the state from October 26 to 29 to assess the destruction caused by the recent floods in the districts of Kurnool, Mahaboobnagar, Krishna, Guntur and Nalgonda.
He said officials from the Departments of Agriculture and Cooperation, Finance, Rural Development, Planning Commission, Power, Road Transport and Highways, Water Resources, and Health and Family Welfare would be the members of the team. He said the district collectors and revenue officials would assist the central teams. He said the Secretary (Disaster Management) and the Chief Secretary of the State would coordinate with the teams at the state headquarters.
