Hyderabad, Aug 19th: The state government has finally decided to adopt the CBSE pattern of grading for SSC public exams from this year. The committee constituted by the government to look into the issue studied both the CBSC and ICSE patterns and decided to go ahead with the former which it felt was more scientific and simple. The recommendations have been sent to the government and a formal approval is expected this week. The grading will be implemented from March 2010.
According to the secretary of secondary education, Mr. Suresh Chanda students will be awarded with nine grades depending upon their performance. No marks will be announced either cumulatively or subject wise. The core committee head submitted its recommendations to Mr. Chanda on Tuesday. At present the SSC board awards first, second and third to students who secure 60 percent, 50 percent and 35 percent respectively. In the new method, there will be no marks and grades will be categorized in descending order for every one eight or 12.5 percent of the students who appear for exams.
