Kurnool, Sep 12th: Taking over the case relating to the helicopter crash which claimed the lives of late Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy and four others, a team of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) visited the site of crash in the dense Nallamala forests on Sept 12 for an in-depth probe. A ten-member CBI team, comprising aviation and forensic experts, also made a thorough probe of the debris in a bid to find a clue on the cause of the crash. The CBI official told in Kurnool town that the preliminary report would be submitted as early as possible. The officials said the team would try to find out if the chopper crashed due to bad weather, technical snag or because of the pilots' error.
Team head Deputy Inspector General V.V Lakshmi Naryana said that ''This is our first inspection of the site. We have taken over the papers from the CB-CID. We will finalize our plan of action''. The team, comprising officers from the Indian Air Force, Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and CBI Superintendent of Police Nageswara Rao, would examine the log entries of the Air Traffic Control (ATC) in the Begumpet Airport and Chennai. Kurnool District Superintendent of Police Ch Srikant said after getting clearance from the (DGCA) the debris would be cleared.
