Kakinada, Oct 21st: The vice chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Kakinada (JNTU-K), Prof. Allam Apparao Rao, stressed the need for bringing about awareness among people from all walks of life in controlling pollution, particularly in coastal areas like Kakinada. Participating as chief guest at national seminar on ‘Environmental Challenges in Industries of East Godavari District”, jointly organized by the regional center of the AP Pollution Control Board and the Civil Engineering department of JNTU-K here on Wednesday, the VC said that pollution could make a crucial dent on an area’s development in terms of affecting peoples living conditions and health.

In the JNTU-K they had introduced many courses on environmental studies including environmental engineering and Management and occupational health. They were also planning to conduct awareness programs with the APPCB among public shortly, he said. The JNTU College of Engineer principal, Mr. E.V Prasad, the district industry center’s general manager, Mr. G. Rajendra Prasad and several others were present. Nearly 100 environmentalists participated.
