Kakinada, Dec 5th: The Telugu Desam East Godavari unit has demanded the inclusion of more area under Godavari delta and Yeleru reservoir project areas in the present rabi crop season. The TD leaders reminded the district administration about the availability of more water in both Godavari and Yeleru reservoir project areas. In a memorandum submitted to the district collector, Mr. Gopala Krishna Dwevedi, on Saturday the leaders brought to the notice of the collector that 12,000 cusecs of water was available in the Godavari river as per their assessment on Friday.
They informed the collector that they visited the Godavari barrage area along with Dowlaiswaram irrigation department SE and other officials and assessed the water levels. The leaders reminded the district administration about the situation that prevailed in 2002 where in only 7,100 cusecs water was available in the barrage. Despite such low water levels the then TD administration was able to supply water to the entire delta area with some inflow from Seleru in to Yeleru reservoir, they added.
