Hyderabad, May 19th: Dr. B.R Ambedkar Open University (Braou) has finally got recognition from the Distance Education Council (DEC) for its courses offering through distance education. The university faced criticisms from the students who were rejected central government jobs saying that the degree offered by the university have no recognition from DEC.
According to an official of Braou, an expert from DEC has visited the university and accorded recognition for the certificates offered by the university since its inception. University vice chancellor, Prof Ramanajula Reddy said that the university has got recognition from DEC and now the students were eligible for central government jobs.
Mr. Reddy revealed that DEC has given recognition to all its courses and this recognition will hold good for all the 1,24,159 certificates issued by the university till now. He also said that students can fight in the court if their certificates were rejected. The university was given recognition till 2013.
