Rajahmundry, Sep 7th: A boat rally was held in Godavari River from Kotilingala ghat to Pushkar ghat to pay homage to the former chief minister Dr. Y.S Rajashekar Reddy here on Monday. Several boats carrying the portraits of the late chief minister sailed in the river to pay tributes to the departed leader and also to make a demand for appointing YSR’s son Y.S Jagan Mohan Reddy the chief minister of the state by the Congress leadership.
Local MLA Routhu Surya Prakash Rao said that the late chief minister was very much fond of Godavari River and added that to optimize the usage of its water and provide irrigation facilities to the farmer’s, as many as 72 irrigation projects were proposed. He said that YSR gave top priority to irrigation projects and also started the Jala Yagnam. Referring to the demand for making Mr. Jagan the CM, the legislator said that a majority section of the MLAs were in favor of Mr. Jagan to become the CM of the state.
