Boat operations to begin today

Rajahmundry, July 11th: With the rise in Godavari water level the tourism department has given green signal to tour boat operations from Sunday. The operations were suspended 10 days ago due to an alarming fall in the water level in the river. The authority notices the rise in water level to seven feet on Saturday and permitted the tourism operation from Sunday. With heavy rainfall in the upstream areas, the water level at Dowlaiswaram rose to 13.01 meters from 12.01 meters.

 

With the information, both the tourists and the operators heaved a sign of relief. The authorities are expecting the water level to rise up to 14 meters in the next two days. In addition to this the irrigation department authorities also expect sufficient water for the first crop which is underway. The authorities also suggested to the farming community to go in for plantation work without any further delay.

 

Mean while the irrigation authorities are making efforts to go in for trail run for both Pushkara and Tatapudi lift irrigation schemes on the present season. Together, these two schemes are likely to irrigate two lakh acres in East and West Godavari districts under the area. The irrigation authorities are planning to lift the water to the two projects from July 20.
