Boarders aim to top in state

Kakinada, Jan 21st: Nearly 1,500 boarders of all social welfare hostels in East Godavari will take the Class X public examinations, for the academic year 2009-10 which are scheduled to be held between March 22 and April 8. As the department concerned secured second position in the state in the last years results, its officials set the target of standing first this year. According to the official sources here, the social welfare department is assisting a total of 1,487 boarders including 798 boys, from its 47 welfare hostels including 20 of girls to take the public examinations.

As part of its steps to reach the target the department is conducting practice test with model papers, psychology and motivation classes apart from providing special study materials to the students. The department is also focusing on preparing more meritorious students for sending them to corporate junior colleges under Corporate Education scheme. In the year 2008-09 the department has sent as many as 90 students to the corporate colleges in Vijayawada. Similarly in the 2009-10, it could send 339 students to the similar colleges at Rajahmundry and Kakinada in East Godavari.
