Mumbai, Oct 27th: Rahul Raj a resident of Patna was shot dead in an encounter by Mumbai police on Monday while he hijacked the bus demanding to meet police commissioner and was to kill Raj Thackery, head of Maharastra Navnirman Sena.
According to the sources provided by the police, Rahul Raj working as an X-Ray technician was to Mumbai in search of job. On Monday morning Raj hijacked the Double Décor bus which was boarding with 25 passengers from Andheri to Kurla. He fired in the open air and created lot of terror in the passengers in the upper decker of the bus.
Deputy Chief Minister R.R Patil and top officials came to the Bail bazaar where the incident took place. Police and the officials tried to avoid the killing of Rahul Raj, but to prolong the life of Rahul Raj would create more crises to the lives of passengers. So the police shot dead the criminal.
On the press meeting held on Monday evening ACP Mohammed Javed said that they warned Raj to drop the gun and surrender, which was opposed by him. So the police opened fire at Rahul to ensure the security of the passengers traveling in the bus.
