Hyderabad, Oct 13th: M S Swaminathan Biennial award for Best Agriculture Scientist for 2009-2010 had been conferred to New Delhi-based Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers’ Rights Authority Chairman Subrahmaniam Nagarajan for his contribution to agriculture.
In a statement here on Monday, Chairman of the awards selection committee and former ICAR Director General R S Paroda said the award, which is the highest recognition to an agricultural scientist for his lifetime achievements and contributions to Indian agriculture, would be presented by Dr Swaminathan at a function being organized on November 14 in the city.
The award carries a cash prize of Rs 1.70 lakh, Gold Medal and a Citation. The award was instituted by Retired ICAR Employees Association (RICAREA) and co-sponsored by a city-based ICAR, one of the leading seed companies in India.
