Kakinada, Feb 24th: Many of the beneficiaries of Rajiv Swagruha of both East and West Godavari districts are showing interest to withdraw their names from the scheme as there were vexed with the delay in the process of construction of houses. Under this scheme the housing board has received nearly 13,000 applications from East Godavari and 8, 075 applications from West Godavari. The only development made by the authorities towards the construction of houses is that they were able to acquire 162 acre land at chollangi near Kakinada and planning to construct 2,000 housing units over there. In spite of this no other developments were seen under this scheme in East Godavari district.
The revenue authorities expressed helplessness in acquiring land in West Godavari district as the land rates were found to be high in those areas. Few of the land proposals received by the authorities failed to yield results as many of them were under court litigations. Each of the beneficiaries under this scheme has paid Rs 5,000 in case of municipal corporation and Rs 3,000 at municipalities. Finding no results, nearly 300 beneficiaries are showing interest to withdraw their name from the scheme and also hoping to get the money back.
