The South Zone Inter University Basketball (Boys) Tournament was started here on Monday, at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Kakinada. The University Registrar Dr. Prasad Raju has presided over the program as a chief guest and started the tournament by lighting the lamp (jyothiprajwalana). Speaking on this, he stated that this South Zone competitions were conducting successfully from last 3years at JNTU-K. Sports are very essential to every human being to get physical & mental relaxations, that he added. These competitions would be held upto 24th of this month at JNTU-K Indoor stadium. JNTU-K Sports Council and Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi were jointly organising this tournament. A total 66 Basketball teams from Andhra Pradesh, Tamilnadu, Kerala, Karnataka & Pondicherry states came to participate in these competitions. AP State Basketball Association General Secretary Mr. T.V.S.N.Prasad, DSDO S.V.Ramana, JNTU-K Directors, Principals & other officials participated in the program.
