Barge mounted power plant reached Kakinada Coastal this Thursday. From past 7 years this plant was managed in Manglore and planned to arrange in GMR Kakinada before 2 years itself. Our late Chief Minister Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhar Reddy payed special attention to allot 60 acres of land near kakinada port's director office. This will be noticed as 1st power plant on the Coastal Sea which is producing power. For this arrangement, 220 Mega watts of power had been utilized at Gurupura near Mangalore of Karnataka state. As the contract at Manglore has been completed, they decided to shift to Kakinada Port.  Now this barge mounted power plant takes a new name as Tannirbaavi power plant by GMR. This plant has been started on 11th of last month but fisher folks demanded to remove alluvial soil before the power plant starts and due to this it was delayed for 4days. It finally reached Kakinada Port after 24days and was placed they before agreed on. In Manglore, power was generated  by Naftha but in Kakinada they have decided to generate power with gas. Generating power with Naftha had become burden and as Reliance is generating gas in KG basin which is near to Kakinada, they decided to generate power with gas only. GMR already signed a contract with Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) for transmittance of gas. As Barges are used for carrying small boats to mother vessel, similar way large barges are used for this plant. The power generated in the plant will be transmitted to grid through pipelines. Pipelines have been arranged for transmittance of power to Samalkot grid. It will nearly take 2 months for transmittance of RIL gas, gas burner, turbines, changes in ignite systems. According to the agreement, generated power will be utilized preferably for our state only, they added.
