Hyderabad, Aug 5th: Banking operations will come to a standstill for two days from Thursday with the United Forum of Bank Unions, representing about eight lakh employees and officers, deciding to go on strike. About 50,000 employees and officers in 26 public sector banks in the state will go on strike, affecting operations in nearly 10,000 branches. In fact the customers will face a tough time till Monday, with Saturday a half-day and Sunday a holiday.

There was heavy rush at the ATMs of PSU banks such as Andhra Bank, SBI, SBH, Syndicate Bank, Union Bank and Canara Bank on Wednesday evening as customers withdrew money as precautionary measure. However, officials said that there was no need for panic as customers will be able to use ATMs of private banks such as ICICI and Axis Bank.
