Nearly four thousand five hundred Bank Employees stayed away from work, participating in the strike organized by All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) against Banking Laws amendment bill, here on Thursday in the district. Firstly, they have conducted the bike rally from SBI main branch to Andhra Bank branch by covering all the banks. According to the sources, this effect to around Rs. 500/- Crores of transactions, which are stopped due to the strike in the district. Similarly, cash transactions were affected, clearing operations were not held, forex transactions and money market transactions were affected and in some places the ATM cash became dry. The main intent of the day-long strike was to draw the attention of people to the danger of banking reforms being pursued by the Government through the Banking Laws (Amendment) Bill 2011. Various bank employees associations & unions leaders and all other bank employees have participated in the strike.
