Kakinada, Dec 10th: The state revenue has been affected a lot due to the ban of export of rice and maize. Kakinada port being the is the largest revenue earner of the state which caters to the needs of both exports and imports has been affected from last few months due to the stoppage of exports and imports in the port
Kakinada deep water port which was expanded 10 years back was handed over to the Kakinada sea ports limited by the government for operation, maintenance and transfer. Together the two ports earned huge revenue to the state in recent years with the export of rice and maize to the African countries including Bangladesh, Pakistan, Thailand and Japan.
A substantial decline in the revenue has been noticed by the ban of export of these two commodities. The farmers has increased the production and crossed the targets put before them. So the trading community expects some relief in the ban of exports. Maize exporter’s association representative, Mr. K.P. Reddy said that the rates are more suitable in other countries than India, so the importers are inclined to purchase from foreign countries.
