Kakinada, Aug 12th: The East Godavari Rajiv Vidya Mission (RVM), formerly Sarva Siksha Abhiyan, achieved 98 per cent target in back-to-school program in the district in present year of 2009-10. According to RVM sources, a special drive was taken up in the district from May to July. Of the target of 70,890 students in age group of five plus years, 70,612 were enrolled into various schools in the district. Similarly, out of the target of 57,362 for student’s admission into Class V to VI, 57,112 students were admitted to various schools.
In order to control dropouts after Class VII, particularly in rural areas, the RVM has taken special care and admitted 44,302 students out of the target of 44,394 students in the district. The RVM also gave top priority for the construction of school building up to upper primary level, and 566 buildings were constructed during 2009-09 and 2009-10 in the district. The project director of East Godavari RVM, Mr. Y. Hrishikesh said that construction of school buildings will be completed by September this year.
