Awareness drive on Swine flu

Kakinada, May 6th: The district health authorities have initiated awareness drive among the public in both East and West Godavari districts on the symptoms of swine flu to help them go for immediate medical check up in case if any positive symptoms are traced. The WHO (World Health Organization) has raised the alert level of swine flu from level 3 to level 4 in the wake of reports of positive cases found in 21 countries from North America, Europe and West Asia.

 

The swine flu virus is an air borne virus and spreads from pig to pig, pig to man and man to man. The chest hospital in Hyderabad acts as nodal hospital and blood investigation in positive cases will be done at National Institute of Communicable diseases in New Delhi. No positive case were detected till now in the entire country. If human beings are affected with swine flu the symptoms will be similar to that of common flu.

 

According to the East Godavari district, medical health officer, Dr. D. Vijay Kumar the medical authorities are trying to educate the people on the symptoms of swine flu and on the need to take medicines in case if any symptoms appear. He revealed that no single result turned positive and asked the public not to fear but be aware of the symptoms as a preventive measure.
