Kakinada, Mar 27th: The APSRTC authorities are conducting series of awareness drives for the RTC staff, mainly for the drives and the conductors from the last few years. This is to create awareness among them on the importance of hospitality, punctuality and road safety in order to get more support from commuters, which in turn increases revenues. Focusing mainly upon the punctuality in running the buses, the method of dealing with the commuters while boarding the bus and other things, the authorities are conducting a drive called Ujvala Bhavita for 4,200 staff in the east godavari district.
The authorities have taken a decision in this concern as the occupancy ration of 70% being recorded in the recent past, which is declining to 60% at times as commuters prefer to travel by private vehicles. Recently the wages of the RTC employees have been hiked which is forcing authorities to find sources to improve revenue. RTC regional manager, Y. Jagdish Babu said that they were trying to replace the old vehicles with new ones to offer better services.
