East Godavari District Administration has bagged 'National Aadhar Governance Award' for the successful launch of the pilot project of Aadhaar based Public Distribution System in the district and also for taking Aadhaar enrollment to close to 95%. According to this, Collectorate officials had released a press note here on Wednesday. District Collector Mrs. Neethu Kumari Prasad and Joint Collector Mr. Ahmed Babu will receive this award from Prime Minister Mr. Manmohan Singh during a programme at Dudu in Rajasthan, which is to be held on 20th of October. UPA Chairperson Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, Rajasthan Chief Minister, Union Minister for Finance, Deputy Chairman of Planning Commission, Chairman of Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) and other respective officials will present to this program. Speaking on this, Collector said 'Iam so happy that the district got selected for the prestigious award'. She said that the credit for successful implementation of the Aadhaar based POS system should go to the entire team of officials and staff starting from village level to district level. Mr. Babu attributed the success to the entire team and said that it was the result of continuous hard work of the entire team for more than two years. “We are implementing the second phase of the Aadhaar in the district now and plans are afoot to launch the third phase soon, which will make the transfer of ration cards easier,” he said. Celebrations have been placed in Collectorate yesterday on this.
