AU students agitation enters 4thday

Visakhapatnam, Dec 14th: The United Andhra agitation, spearheaded by the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of Andhra University (AU) students, continued in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam Districts for the fourth day. City Police Commissioner N Sambasiva Rao told UNI that Section 30 of CrPC had been imposed to prevent rally, dharna, gathering and public meetings in the port and steel city.

Security had been tightened in the strategic and public places like Andhra University, HSBC Call Centre, Jagadamba, railway stations and bus depots to prevent any untoward incident. More than 1,500 policemen and CRPF personnel had been deployed, he added. Meanwhile, JAC Convener A. Mahesh said Jaganth Naidu and Sarat, who were among the activists who had been on fast-unto-death for the last four days in AU campus, were shifted to the Government King George Hospital (KGM). However, doctors said the health condition of the students was stable.
