Artether good for malaria

Rajahmundry, Aug 13th: The state malaria wing director Dr. P.S Raj Kumar said that “artether” injections are going to be administered to patients infected with malaria. Speaking to the news person here on Thursday, Mr Kumar said that the World Bank has allocated Rs 5 crore for tackling malaria and added that Rs 1 crore each was going to be spent in five districts including Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, Khammam and East Godavari.

Dr. Kumar said that 128 cases were reported in East Godavari and 540 injections were dispatched to Rampachodavaram Agency area. He also said that in seven mandals in the Agency, 27 health assistants were going to be posted in 18 primary health centers in addition to providing lab equipment. Following reports of malaria cases, medical officers were going to be posted on deputation in the Agency for three months to crub malaria. Referring to the influenza, the additional director ruled out any traces of HINI virus in coastal Andhra region so far.
