Hyderabad, Oct 15th: The State government may expand the Rajiv Arogyasri health insurance scheme to include Above Poverty Line families too. As of now the scheme is meant for the Below Poverty Line groups but APL families will be able to avail its benefits by paying a marginal premium. A meeting of the state government held on Thursday also discussed the possible de-linking of Rajiv Arogyasri from other programmes implemented for BPL families including the subsidized rice scheme.

Sources said that the Arogyasri minister Mr. P. Satyanarayana told the Cabinet that people who had taken white ration cards for Arogyasri were also using them to get free rice too. He suggested that there should be separate cards for Arogyasri. The cabinet decided to appoint a sub-committee to study the issue and suggest remedial measures. This was the first Cabinet meeting attended in full strength after Mr. Rosaiah took over the reins of administration.
