Arogyasri proven to be popular scheme

Hyderabad, May 23rd: Rajiv Arogyasri, the most prestigious health care scheme introduced by chief minister, Dr. Y.S Raja Shekar Reddy has proven to be popular scheme all over the world. Nearly 40 countries have approached the state government to learn about this scheme.

 

On the invitation given by WHO (World Health Organization), chief executive officer of the Arogyasri health care trust, Dr. A. Babu had left for a panel discussion in Geneva. The state governments of Orissa, West Bengal and Karnataka have expressed their interest in the initiative.

 

Arogyasri in charge, Dr Kamaladevi revealed that this cash less health insurance scheme has covered over six crore people in 23 districts through a network of 367 government and private hospitals. Nearly 10, 149 camps were conducted with over 17 lakh people screened and 8.4 lakh registered and referred for various government and private hospitals for further treatment.

 

The scheme covers 330 medical and surgical procedures relating to heart, kidney, brain, cancer and also injuries caused by domestic accidents and burns. The scheme is designed to provide free treatment to BPL (Below Poverty Line) families and white card holder’s upto Rs 1.5 lakh and extending it to 2 lakh if required.
