Arogyasri cancelled in 51 hospitals

Hyderabad, Aug 4th: The state government has cancelled the Arogyasri scheme in 51 hospitals across the state as they reportedly indulged in malpractices, Another 22 hospitals have been kept under suspension for faking medical bills. The minister for Arogyasri, Mr. Pitani Satyanarayana placed the details in Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council on Tuesday after some member’s expresses concern over the misuse of funds under the scheme.

The issue came up for discussion in the Council during question hour. The MLC, Mr. Shaik Hussain, alleged that several hospitals were claiming false bills. He said that public money was being misused because of the irregularities in the scheme. Mr. Satyanarayana said the government will not tolerate swindling of funds with false bills. He warned to delist such hospitals from taking up operations under the scheme and only genuine hospitals will be allowed to perform the Arogyasri services.
