AP Assembly bypolls on Dec 19

Hyderabad, Nov 20th: The by-elections to Pulivendula Assembly Constituency at Kadapa District in Andhra Pradesh would be held on December 19, State Election Officer I V Subba Rao said on Friday. Talking to newspersons here, Mr Rao said notification for the bypoll, caused by the death of former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, would be issued on November 25 and the last date for filing of nominations would be December two.

Scrutiny of the nominations would be on December three and the last date for withdrawals was on December five, he said, adding counting of votes would take place on December 23. As the Election Commission had announced schedule for the bypoll, the entire district would come under the model election code of conduct. There are 1.86 lakh voters in the Constituency, including 95,000 women, he said, adding 218 polling booths would be in place for the by-election. The Constituency had registered 78 per cent of votes in the recent Assembly elections, he added.
