ANU to promote Telugu

Rajahmundry, Nov 2nd: The Adikavi Nannaya University is planning to set up a centre to take up research on Telugu language and culture at the university. The vice-chancellor of the university, Prof. K. Nirupa Rani announced this on Monday after garlanding the statue of Adikavi Nannaya to mark his jayanti celebrations at Subramanyam grounds here on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, she appreciated the great writings of the poet and said that though the poet belonged to the 11th centaury, his writings were found more interesting even in 21st centaury given a large number of people finding interest to read his writing. She said that though they were not offering any post graduation program in Telugu in the university, they were organizing several other programs to promote Telugu and its culture. Local MLA, Routhu Surya PRakash, TDP MLA, Mr. Chandana Ramesh and the mayor, Ms A. Veera Raghavamma paid floral tributes to the famous poet.
