Anti-Terrorism Day observed

Kakinada, May 21st: Anti-Terrorism day was observed at East Godavari district collectorate on Thursday. It was on this day in 1991 former prime minister, Rajiv Gandhi fell to the design of terrorists. The day is generally observed to generate awareness among all the sections of the people about the danger of terrorism, violence and its adverse effect on the common man, society and country.

 

 

The observance program was held under the chairmanship of district joint collector, Mr. Kona Sasidhar. He administered the pledge to heads of various sections and departments. District revenue officer, Mr. M. Mohana Raju also participated. Speaking on the occasion he revealed that the objective behind the observance of the day is to wean away the youth from terrorism and violence by highlighting the suffering of the common people.

 

The day was also organized at Zilla Parishat Office. The program was conducted with chief executive officer Bhavani Das. He administered pledge to officers. Similarly the day was also observed at district congress party office. Deputy Mayor, Arigela Srinivasa Rao and few other senior leaders garlanded the portrait of Rajiv Gandhi and paid rich tributes to him.
