District Collector, Mr.M.Ravi Chandra called upon everyone to put effort for abolition of Leprosy disease completely in District. Death Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and National Anti Leprosy Day was observed here at Gandhinagar park on Monday. Collector participated as chief guest in this program. Speaking on this, he stated that the the houses of leprosy patients which are in demolition stage will be reconstructed as Mass group houses. Donors must come forward to support for this, he added. Kakinada MLA Dwarampudi Chandra Sekhar stated that they will support for the reconstruction of this colonies. Earlier, they offered garlands to picture and statue of Gandhi in park premises. Later, they arranged light meals for patients and distributed glasses, plates, rice and footwear. They also distributed prizes to the winners of the Essay writing and Elocution competitions which were conducted earlier. Collector Ravi Chandra inaugurated the Publicity Vehicle arranged for creating awareness on Leprosy and AIDS. In this program, DMHO D.Vijay Kumar, Municipal Commissioner V.Ravi Kumar, Additional DMHO (AIDS, Leprosy) Dr.Pavan Kumar and others were present.
