Annual credit plan of EG district unveiled

Kakinada, June 26th: The Annual credit plan of East Godavari district for financial year 2009-10 has been fixed at Rs. 4,013 crore as against the last year’s figure of Rs. 3,000 crore. It was an increase of about Rs. 1,013 crore (33.75 per cent). A total sum of Rs. 1,798 crore (24.5 per cent) was allocated for agriculture compared to Rs. 1,443 crore in 2008-09. For non-farm activities, a sum of Rs. 561 crore was earmarked for the year.

According to an official statement of the bankers’ district level review committee (DLRC), short term crop loans (STCL) amounted to approximately Rs. 1,460 crore. Other Priority Sectors got Rs. 555 crore. The second biggest allocation after STCL is Rs. 1,100 crore for the self-help groups (both urban and rural). It was a 120 per cent increase over the last year’s target of Rs. 500 crore. A sum of Rs. 848 crore was disbursed to 46,937 rural self-help groups in 2008-09, which was the highest in the last five years from 2004-05.
