Kakinada, Feb 10th: Aiming to extend all its banking services to the people of remote areas, Andhra Bank is shortly introducing Business Correspondents (BC) in these areas. Deputy general manager of Andhra Bank, Kakinada Zone, S.V Bhagavathi said that instead of setting up new branches of the bank at every interior areas, the bank is introducing the BC's, who will be always available to the people in remote areas in transferring all the services of the bank.
Speaking to reporters here on Wednesday, Mr. Bhagavathi said that with this new concept, which is under formulation stage, the zone would deploy nearly 160 to 170 such BC's who would be made available at all the remote areas in the zone, which comprises 102 branches and 43 ATMs as on now, he added. As on December 31, 2009, the zone's business was at Rs 4,235 crore and the target is Rs 5,100 crore by the end of the year.
