Hyderabad, Oct 24th: Ceremonial opening of America consulate took place at Paigah Palace in Hyderabad on Friday. The consulate was jointly inaugurated by chief minister Y.S. Rajashekar Reddy and the American Ambassador Mulford.
Full pledged activities will be starting from 3rd week of December and nearly 100 visas will be issued everyday for this consulate. Mulfort addressing the press said that “Hyderabad being the fast developing city in the country in the fields of social, political, commercial issues, we decided to start the consulate here. This is the 5th consulate in the country”.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Y.S. Rajashekar Reddy thanked the US Government for setting up the consulate in Hyderabad. He said that is proud for both the city and the state to have us consulate. Consulate consists of 7 US officials and 12 Indian staff members.
The process of visas will increase to 300 from January and eventually to 500 from March. For the process of visas the state people need not make a journey to Chennai or Delhi in future.
