All set for counting at Tekkali

Srikakulam, Sep 13th: Arrangements were completed for counting of votes polled in the by election to the Tekkali Assembly constituency in Andhra Pradesh today. Official sources said that counting would commence at 0800 hrs at the Government Degree College in the town and the entire process would be completed within three to four hours. The bypoll was held on September 10 and 76 per cent of the electorate cast their votes.

The Congress had fielded K Bharathi, widow of K Revathipath, who died a day before the newly-elected MLAs were sworn in, which caused the bypoll. The fate of the six contesting candidates, B Bharathi (Cong), K Atchan Naidu(TDP), Duvvada Sreenivas (Praja Rajyam Party) would also be known today. Others in the fray were Lok Satta Party (LSP) nominee Chandrasekar Patnaik and Independents D Sridhar and N Bhaskar, the sources added.
