Mayor K.Saroja stressed the need for municipal corporations to give priority to drinking water supply, waste water drainage and solid waste and flood water management projects in order to improve the living conditions. These require huge financial resources, which should be raised by the corporations on their own while benefiting of the assistance provided by the Central and State governments. Besides, municipal corporations across the country should have uniform functional guidelines, she said in the 98th executive committee meeting of the All-India Council of Mayors held at Hyderabad on April 24. Elected heads of municipal corporations from all corners of India put forth their views on the changed scenario in comparison with their financial position and various administrative aspects. Chief Minister K.Rosaiah presented his outlook of the development of civic bodies.
