Additional Joint Collector, Mr. B.Rama Rao here on Monday participated in a video conference by State Chief Secretary Mr. Pankaj Dwivedi along with all the officials from the District. The conference was conducted to discuss about the arragements of Pulse Polio 2012 programme to be held in the District in two phases on 19th of February and 1st of April. Speaking on this, Mr. Ramarao said 5.68 lakhs of children below five years age would be covered in the district under this 51st intensive national pulse polio programme. Replying to the queries of Chief secretary Pankaj Dwivedi, he said as many as 7,158 medical and health officials, staff and 6,000 volunteers were being deployed to administer polio drops. In addition to 110 mobile teams, 40 special teams will also be deployed to cover the children during the village temple festivals. The cooperation of NGO's, Rotary and Lions organisations will also we enlisted. A total of 3,250 polio booths would be set up to administer the polio vaccine. Besides, 30 special posts would also be set up to cover people on the move, he said. He said the district task force committee will meet on February 9th under the chairmanship of District Collector to finalise the plan of action to ensure the target group children in remote areas.
